What determines the price?
There are several factors in determining the price of our English bulldog puppies for sale, first and foremost is the quality of the puppy. We breed beautiful, healthy, AKC registered females and we pay handsomely for them. I never claim that a puppy is show quality, show potential yes, show quality, no. No one can look at a puppy especially a very young puppy and know 100% that it is show quality and will grow up to win in the ring. Show potential puppies will be higher than pet quality. Full AKC papers will be more expensive than Limited AKC papers. If you want to show your English Bulldog Puppy then you must have full AKC to show. Limited AKC means that you must spay or neuter your puppy when old enough. Most puppies are purchased as companion animals and Full Registration is not necessary but the choice is for you to decide. If you think you would like to breed your English bulldog then you will have to have Full AKC which is breeding rights as well.
Pricing for our English Bulldogs
Wow, why are they so expensive?
Boy, we hear that a lot! And with good reason, I agree that they are expensive, no doubt. That was my response years ago when I could finally afford my dream dog and searched for English bulldogs for sale, after all the years of dream horses! English Bulldogs are a man-made breed and it takes a lot of money and hundreds of hours of work to get them to the 8 week period to be in their new homes. If you are an experienced English Bulldog owner then you know all this.
First of all we progesterone test all our females during the heat cycle to make sure we are hitting the ovulation on target. This is a blood test which is done at least twice, which means vet bills. Then there is a stud fee and artificial insemination, which is done 2-3 times, and more vet bills. Then the ultra sound at 5 weeks to see if she is pregnant, (at this point you of course are praying she is as you have almost 2,000 dollars invested) this also determines the date of the c-section, yes another vet bill... All is going well and you increase the diet and add wonderful things that cost more money. Then more blood testing to determine the acutal C section date, then the c-section is here, HUGE VET BILL....
The Dam's lion share of the work is now done, enter You....English Bulldog puppies cannot, I repeat cannot, be left with their mothers. These are not free whelping, know what to do careful mothers, they are bulldogs not golden retrievers. Even the best of mothers can lie on and suffocate their babies. They are heavy not agile dogs, they also did not go through the birthing process. They go to sleep and wake up and have these little squealing things trying to attack them. Some bulldogs are really freaked out by this. With that being said, you are up every 2 hours putting puppies on mom and that is if there are no problems with mom, i.e. milk not coming in, and the possibility of other issues which are more labor intensive. So at this point mother is just a fueling station and you are the attendant! You also must aid in helping with the elimination process. So for the next 8 weeks your life is nothing but taking care of puppies, the first 4-5 weeks you will run on about 4 hours of broken sleep a night, look like a wreck and worst of all you are too tired to care! When you aren't feeding puppies and cleaning up poop and pee, you are doing the daily 10 loads of towels and bedding. Very glamorous, and to top it off because you are so rundown you generally end up catching something but you can't call in sick... When I was going through this on my first litter all I could say was, "as expensive as they are, they really should be more." Hope this clears up some of the cost questions....
Last but not least, Buyer Beware, these are what quality English Bulldog Puppies with quality care cost. You may find some that are a lot less expensive and even cheap. If something sounds too good to be true it most likely is. There are many many scams regarding English Bulldog Puppies out there. Do your due diligence and use caution.
Above all, enjoy your new English Bulldog Puppy! They are worth every penny!
